I really like this little pot. I focused on the rim for the surface decoration, the top is split into two edges, with one side- the outside – crimped. I added clay ‘beads’ between the two rims. The sides are fluted and the glaze I chose has an iridescent blue/green quality.
This vase was a fun creation, I have 4 ‘sides’ of this round pot indented with little dots of clay pressed in for effect. I like the glassy, dark green glaze. It does look like leaves after a rain on a summer afternoon.
I like to call this little piece a Toad Cottage! I plan on putting a few of them outside this summer. I had quite a few toads hanging around the garden hose, now they will have their own place!
Delicate mug with a wonderful cream interior and Robin’s Egg Blue outside, and a spray of white daisy flowers.
I love this glaze, it has so much depth! It feels as though I am looking deep into the piece! The glaze undulates over the surface with a rich brown that reminds me of pottery in the 1800’s.
Art Deco green on an elegant wheel thrown white pottery vase with what I call the ‘fancy top’ with applied designs.
I love the color being two toned– white inside– and a melty mix of browns and blues on the textured sides of this pot. It can easily be used as a planter or a holder for kitchen gadgets on the counter.
I have always enjoyed creating my pottery with simple lines. This winter, I explored adding texture to vases and bowls. The new glazes that I used really tend to show up, almost like a wash of lightly colored glass over the surface of each pot. Glazes end up looking quite different on vertical, textured forms than on the smooth insides or bottoms of bowls or mugs. I am really trying to think outside my usual creative zone, and have attempted to make wares that will appeal to most anyone’s taste. Sometimes I realize I make only my favorite kinds of pots, and I need to stretch my horizon to create using different colors and wares. I hope you enjoy these! I think I like them!
